Inspiration for the theme:

Pop culture and movies shape our generation, so I wanted to see which popular characters or items lanyard makers could recreate that have inspired them.

First place — little mermaid by Art time class

Art Time Class is an art educator based in Texas with a passion for creativity and community.

“My journey began at summer camp as a little girl, where I fell in love with weaving boondoggle keychains — an early spark that ignited a lifelong love of making art with my hands. Since then, I’ve enjoyed exploring all kinds of art media. I especially love presenting at the TAEA Conference and connecting with fellow educators and adult learners. As an Apple Coach, I also have the privilege of mentoring new art teachers and those ready to explore the integration of digital art practices in their classrooms — an experience that continues to inspire and challenge me in the best ways.

Second place — flux capacitor by William j. whitehead

“Back to the Future is a series of movies I grew up with so I am glad to have made this replica of the iconic Flux Capacitor! It uses several different stitches and techniques, including a big 10x3 stitch at the beginning and end, and a big U-shaped stitch in the middle, as well as the Chinese Staircase around the perimeter in the black and suspended strands to depict the wires on the Flux Capacitor!”
