About Violetita
Bio
Violet Danielle Leon was born to parents, Rob Leon and Rhonda Boone Leon, students of Hollywood's notorious Musician's Institute. The two young musicians performed in several bands together as they fell in love: Rhonda playing bass and Rob delivering rhythm, vocals, and lead guitar. It was no wonder that after they married, their children would follow in their creative footsteps. As a family, they would spend evenings jamming together- with Violet on vocals. At a young age, Violet discovered her love for scatting, vocalizing, and writing music.
Throughout her years in school, she performed at numerous talent showcases and artist anthologies, meanwhile providing back up vocals for her father's band at fairs and popular shopping malls. When her parents divorced in 2009, she used music as her outlet. She sang in her school's choir and received stage presence lessons by the Vocal Music Instructor, Rob Blaney.
In 2014, Violet auditioned to be her school’s Jazz Band Singer. Although she did not receive the position- she enjoyed working as the teachers assistant, organizing sheet music, and writing in her spare time. Later, when the position opened up again, Violet's teacher offered her the position with three weeks notice of what would be her first official concert. She eagerly accepted, and went on to win two awards at the Irvine Jazz Festival in 2015- a first for any vocalist.
Home life, however, was ever-changing. At the age of 17, Violet moved out and began living with her sister Natasha. When a close family friend passed away, Violet inherited microphones and a computer equipped with Logic Pro X. She began mixing music at home and testing the capabilities of her voice.
In the fall of 2017, Violet took her audio engineering skills to the next level by taking classes at Studio West and The Recording Arts Center in San Diego. With hundreds of songs written, Violet is a lyricist for hire and passionate songwriter. She specializes in ballads, pop, rock, rap, and jazz.
When she isn’t writing, she is performing with her band Madre x Mia.
